Recover and Thrive Together

Join CREW309

CREW309 membership is open to all Central Illinois women with a history of breast cancer (and those with a high-risk genetic mutation, aka “previvors”). With more and more studies proving exercise to be a primary driver of cancer prevention, CREW members row to decrease breast cancer risk, but this is just the beginning.

Join the CREW

CREW members row indoors year-round at our facility on the Peoria Riverfront and outdoors on the Illinois River from June through October from Eastport Marina. We host new member learn-to-row events several times a year to onboard new members, who are then welcome to attend practices and row as often as they’d like. The only cost to join is a small fee to join US Rowing, although additional donations to the team are always welcome and tax deductible.

Interested in joining us? Use the form below to get in touch with our outreach coordinator. We’d love to have you!

CREW309 allows women to

build relationships and find

support around their breast cancer

experience & subsequent treatments

without a traditional support group.

For many members, the people are what keep them coming back to practice: to have the support of this community when they are facing a challenging health concern or followup appointment, or when a member simply needs someone around who understands what they are going through.

Some women on our team have never been part of an organized sport and wouldn’t consider themselves athletic prior to joining, but now all of our members are considered athletes! Rowing is a great sport because it is low impact and truly is for anybody, at any age or athletic ability.

  • “CREW309 isn't just a bunch of women; we are family.”
